| crazy vegas trip My dad came to visit for two weeks. Over the weekend, his client/friend, Scott, treated us (mom, dad, Lawrence and I) to Vegas. It was the craziest experience I've ever had. People usually go to Vegas to gamble. I mean, duh. I am not much of a gambler, but I usually play a little roulette. I still get carded for being Asian and seemingly younger than my actual age. This time, however, the gaming table did not attract me for one second. The craziness started when we arrived. Scott told us to go the 33rd floor at Paris. It was only when we entered the elevator did we realize that it was the topmost floor, where the Presidential Suite resided. Yes, those $10,000-per-night rooms reserved for celebrities and high rollers. These rooms are not available to the public. It was the largest hotel room I've ever seen. Scott had wanted to get a Presidential Suite with four rooms so we can all stay together, but the hotel made a mistake so he got two sets of suites instead. The suites had a living room, a dinning room, and two bedrooms with huge bathrooms. The bathroom contained a huge Jacuzzi tub and all glass showers. The beds were so huge I can sleep anyway I want to and still fit. We arrived Friday night, so it was almost time to sleep. Scott ordered room service, and we all had sushi and bunch of other dishes at one in the morning. My boyfriend and I shared a room, and were so excited we ran around taking pictures of the rooms. The next day, two Limos pulled up in front of Paris and we went off to get Dim Sum. Seriously. I've never gone to a Dim Sum place in Limos. I also didn't know there was a China town in Las Vegas. After our late lunch, we headed back to Paris for a break before the Celine Dion concert. My parents, Lawrence and I walked around the casinos and took some pictures. In about two hours, we all gathered (Scott, his wife, two friends and us). The next thing I know, we passed a long line of people and were heading straight to the Diamond Entrance. We got into the elevator and went up the Eiffel Tower to eat. The restaurant was beautiful --- dimly lit and very romantic. The dinner was probably around $2,000 (hard to keep track of the bills). Right after dinner, we went to Ceasar's Palace for the Celine Dion concert. We got 4th row seats, dead center. I don't even want to know how much the tickets cost. The concert was awesome. Celine Dion is more incredible in person than on her CD (unlike some singers who sounds wonderful on CD, and can't carry a tune on live stage). Unfortunately, we were not allowed to take pictures. Since Scott had already seen the concert four times, he walked around with his wife while we were at the concert. Later we found out he had lost $12,000 in 20 minutes and bought his wife an $8,000 purse. I was telling Lawrence he probably spent someone’s entire year of salary in half an hour. We were going to go on a tour of the Grand Canyon on a private helicopter, but we didn’t have enough time. Saturday was the only day we had time for activity because we left early afternoon on Sunday. Going back to the office on Monday was like going back to reality, and I didn’t want to be back to reality. |
